Tiburon Island is the largest island in the Gulf of California, also known as the Sea of Cortez. It is located off the coast of the state of Sonora, in northwest Mexico. Currently, the island is home to the comcaac ethnic group.
The island has a rich history, dating back to the prehistoric era when it was inhabited by the Hohokam and other indigenous cultures. The island was later visited by Spanish explorers and became a popular destination for whalers in the 19th century. Today, Tiburon Island is a popular tourist destination for its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and diverse wildlife including hiking and hunting.
Recreation permits are required for activities such as fishing, hunting, and camping on Tiburon Island. These permits can be obtained through the Comcaac Governor 's office in Punta Chueca (not Mexican government) and are included in our hunting services.
Geographically, Tiburon Island is characterized by rocky shores, sandy beaches, and a rugged interior with mountains and valleys.
The island is home to a variety of plant and animal life, including several species of cacti, agaves, and other succulents. The island is also home to a number of endemic species, including the Tiburon Island rattlesnake and the Tiburon Island fox.
Other animal species you may encounter include the Desert Bighorn Sheep, Sheldoni Mule Deer, Coyotes, and a variety of small rodents.
